Ergonomic Nopefish
I bought this game specifically because it was a console port. I wanted to use a gaming controller. Leaning forward for hours on end to use a mouse and keyboard for a game is something I’ve refused to do for years because I have back issues. Being a console port, I should EASILY be able to use a controller. Well, THIS GAME DOES NOT SUPPORT GAMEPADS. Maybe it supports an xbox controller, but I do not own one. On the right stick, the X and Y axis are reversed, leaving your horizontal motions making vertical camera movement and vice versa. The hat switch is ALWAYS in the full upper left position, leaving the game constantly cycling through inventory, and making it completely unplayable. The controller I’m using is less than a day old, and tests perfectly on the Joystick Show app. The game has no method by which to properly calibrate the controller, only assign buttons, which will never solve the problem. Furthermore, the host of the app refuses to honor refund requests on their highly defective product. Negative one stars. I normally rate an unplayable game zero stars, but they also stole my money. Avoid at all costs.
As a game developer myself, I can tell you that basic input configuration is one of the EASIEST things to program, and is often done before any of the actual content is even imported into the game. The ONLY way this issue occurs is if the people who ported it are EXTREMELY lazy, and DO NOT CARE AT ALL about the end user’s experience. I’m a fair minded person, and I will rewrite my review when and if this absurd and highly unnecessary issue is solved.
